NSWA has yet again taken it on itself to attack the conditions in our Award.
We are constantly unable to receive breaks, whether on the road or in Control Centres. On road staff receive a penalty if we do not receive our entitled breaks or the break is interrupted (not completed). We are also entitled to an allowance if we are forced to have a break away from our main workplace due to the work we do. On the odd occasion that these two situations combine (ie. employees are directed and commence a crib/meal away however the crib/meal is not completed), we are able to claim both payments in accordance with the Award.
It has come to our attention that NSWA is informing local management to stop approving these payments. APA (NSW) members are reminded that managers are only carrying out the instructions from NSWA Executive and ask that you do not to take out your frustration on front line managers.
APA (NSW) have informed the NSWA we are in dispute and have requested a status quo.
Members should continue to process their timesheets and claim as you have previously. This will ensure accurate records are maintained for when a resolution is reached in our favour.
APA (NSW) has always fought against the erosion of our Award. Have no doubt, we will be fiercely defending this attack.
