Wednesday 7 June 2017
Dear Member,
Back in March members were reporting that there is a shortage in several NSWA issued items for Control Centre Staff, leading to staff being forced to share uniform items to meet uniform policy. APA (NSW) raised this issue through local Control Centre management and again in the Control Division JCC on 15 March 2017. At that meeting, we were assured that new uniforms for Control Centre Staff will be available in 8 weeks.
It has now been 12 weeks since the Control Division JCC and Control Centre Staff are yet to be issued uniform items they have been waiting a significant period of time for. This is simply unacceptable. APA (NSW) delegates and members are fed up and are now taking action to show management that this issue is a serious matter.
Control Centre staff with inadequate uniforms are calling on their Control Centre colleagues to stand in solidarity with them by refusing to wear the NSWA issued uniforms from Friday 9 June 2017. Instead, we ask that you wear non-NSWA issued clothing to work that is work health and safety appropriate. We ask that you continue to do so until the NSWA meets their obligation under the Award to provide adequate uniforms.
APA (NSW) members who are questioned about their attire in accordance with this update, should ask the individuals to contact their local delegate, the APA (NSW) Executive or APA (NSW) Industrial Team.
Regards,
APA (NSW) Executive

NSW Ambulance (NSWA) continues to bury their head in the sand when it comes to our uniform.
The current polyester uniform, including the short-sleeved shirt, has been causing work health and safety concerns for
several members in hot and/or humid climates. This is unacceptable.
Today the Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) are commencing industrial action to stand against the announced wage cut by the Premier. For months, Paramedics and other essential workers put our lives and the lives of our families at risk to look after the people of New South Wales during the COVIID-19 Pandemic.
The NSW Premier’s announcement to freeze the pay of public sector workers for 12 months is disgraceful. Paramedics and our frontline colleagues have been used, yet again, as scapegoats for this Government. We are praised as heroes for our hard work, and in the same breath served a pay cut that will ultimately send our wages backwards.
