Recently, APA (NSW) has been involved in discussions with NSWA with respect to the roster at Maclean Station due to staffing enhancements.
Additional paramedics at Maclean Station were welcomed by APA (NSW) as part of an ongoing campaign by our members. The implementation however has resulted in there being virtually no benefits for local communities due to inadequate rostering put in place by NSWA.
To address this issue, APA (NSW) delegates met recently with Chris Gulaptis MP and a delegation of stakeholders (including NSWA) on invitation from the Minister for Health, the Hon. Brad Hazzard MP. Parties spoke passionately about providing the best possible coverage for the community.
As previously reported, the attitude from local NSWA management with respect to the roster could be described as at best based on false premise and at worse deliberately obstructive. In light of this, APA (NSW) has now listed the issue before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission and we await a court date. APA (NSW) will not be deterred from advocating for outcomes that paramedics know are best for their communities.
Should members wish to provide feedback or become involved please contact APA (NSW) delegate, Mark Young, via email.
