Dear Member,
You may have seen recent correspondence from NSWA CE Dominic Morgan and media reports about the announcement of a Parliamentary Inquiry into Emergency Services Agencies, which includes NSW Ambulance. The Terms of Reference state that the inquiry will look into the processes in place within emergency services agencies for dealing with “bullying, harassment and discrimination, as well as the effectiveness of the protocols and procedures in place to manage and resolve such complaints within emergency service agencies…”.
APA (NSW) supports the inquiry. We believe that NSWA should be a place free from bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind. The inquiry is also considering the appropriateness of uniforms provided to employees in emergency services agencies. APA (NSW) is glad to see that this is part of inquiry and will continue to press for more appropriate uniforms for paramedics, as we have in the past, in this new forum.
It is important to note that this inquiry is dealing with agency processes only, not individual complaints, grievances or cases about bullying and/or harassment.
APA (NSW) will be shortly putting out a survey to members in order to assist us with our submissions to the inquiry. In the meantime, we encourage members to contact the APA (NSW) office with any questions they have in relation to this inquiry.
Regards,
APA (NSW) Executive

NSW Ambulance (NSWA) continues to bury their head in the sand when it comes to our uniform.
The current polyester uniform, including the short-sleeved shirt, has been causing work health and safety concerns for
several members in hot and/or humid climates. This is unacceptable.
Today the Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) are commencing industrial action to stand against the announced wage cut by the Premier. For months, Paramedics and other essential workers put our lives and the lives of our families at risk to look after the people of New South Wales during the COVIID-19 Pandemic.
The NSW Premier’s announcement to freeze the pay of public sector workers for 12 months is disgraceful. Paramedics and our frontline colleagues have been used, yet again, as scapegoats for this Government. We are praised as heroes for our hard work, and in the same breath served a pay cut that will ultimately send our wages backwards.
