Dear Member,
Currently, SOT Paramedics are not afforded a pay rate and/or allowance under the Operational Ambulance Officers (State) Award for their SOT skills and qualifications. APA (NSW) finds this to be highly inadequate. SOT Paramedics must be recognised for the additional skills acquired, training undertaken and the inherent risks surrounding the work they perform. It is insulting for the NSWA to be taking advantage of the services of SOT Paramedics without appropriate financial incentive.
APA (NSW) Executive have made the commitment, with respect to the upcoming Award negotiations with both the NSW Ambulance and the Ministry of Health, to push for a pay rate and/or allowance to be included in the Award for SOT Paramedics. Should this outcome not be achievable via consultation, APA (NSW) will move to progress the matter in the Industrial Relations Commission via our legal team.
APA (NSW) is committed to ensuring that all our members are adequately and fairly remunerated by NSWA for the work they carry out.
We are seeking our membership’s valuable input, specifically the input of SOT Paramedics, to assist us with upcoming negotiations. Please send all feedback and comments to our Senior Industrial Officer, Ms Harini Kasturi, via email to industrial.officer@apansw.com.au
Regards,
APA (NSW) Executive

NSW Ambulance (NSWA) continues to bury their head in the sand when it comes to our uniform.
The current polyester uniform, including the short-sleeved shirt, has been causing work health and safety concerns for
several members in hot and/or humid climates. This is unacceptable.
Today the Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) are commencing industrial action to stand against the announced wage cut by the Premier. For months, Paramedics and other essential workers put our lives and the lives of our families at risk to look after the people of New South Wales during the COVIID-19 Pandemic.
The NSW Premier’s announcement to freeze the pay of public sector workers for 12 months is disgraceful. Paramedics and our frontline colleagues have been used, yet again, as scapegoats for this Government. We are praised as heroes for our hard work, and in the same breath served a pay cut that will ultimately send our wages backwards.
