Dear Member,
It is with great disappointment that APA (NSW) has registered a dispute with NSW Ambulance (NSWA) at the IRC in relation to attempted wage theft.
While we have various disagreements with NSWA, a worker’s right to receive payment for work, is the basis of the employment relationship and something we believed would be considered off limits for an organisation with the standing of NSWA. After local managers failed to address the issue of employees not being paid for higher grade duties (HGD) undertaken at the request of NSWA, APA (NSW) raised the issue with NSWA industrial relations in December 2017.
Despite it being approximately 3 months since NSWA had been made aware of the issue, our members are still waiting for the back payments dating as far back as 2015.
It is impossible to determine if this action from NSWA is another stage in its continued attack on our conditions or a manifestation of incompetence within an essential public service which we are expected to tolerate. It will not be tolerated; we and the public of NSW deserve better.
APA (NSW) will not allow this behaviour to continue unchallenged.
Regards,
APA (NSW) Executive
The Paramedics Union

NSW Ambulance (NSWA) continues to bury their head in the sand when it comes to our uniform.
The current polyester uniform, including the short-sleeved shirt, has been causing work health and safety concerns for
several members in hot and/or humid climates. This is unacceptable.
Today the Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) are commencing industrial action to stand against the announced wage cut by the Premier. For months, Paramedics and other essential workers put our lives and the lives of our families at risk to look after the people of New South Wales during the COVIID-19 Pandemic.
The NSW Premier’s announcement to freeze the pay of public sector workers for 12 months is disgraceful. Paramedics and our frontline colleagues have been used, yet again, as scapegoats for this Government. We are praised as heroes for our hard work, and in the same breath served a pay cut that will ultimately send our wages backwards.
