Thank you for the clear and overwhelming response to our survey regarding the WWCC fee.
The APA (NSW) Executive have reviewed the results from our peers and it overwhelmingly supports the deep-seated view that paramedics believe they should never have to pay this fee. Paramedics have been taking hit after hit to working conditions for three years and clearly have had enough!
The NSW Treasurer continues to ignore us. We are united in our belief that the NSW Government must absorb or waive the WWCC fee.
Wrong is wrong.
APA (NSW) Executive calls every member to arms. Members are to withhold any payment of a WWCC fee. In addition, we ask paramedics who already hold a WWCC for child related work to withhold it from NSW Ambulance (NSWA) in solidarity.
NSWA managers are actively attempting to coerce our membership by distributing misleading and in some cases, stand over communications to frighten members. This is completely unacceptable and demonstrative of the lengths NSWA will go to in order to achieve the NSW Government’s position. If you are subject to such behaviour, immediately report it to your APA (NSW) delegate.
We advise members to simply inform NSWA management that you will not be obtaining a WWCC on instruction from your Union and that they can contact the APA (NSW) Executive or the APA (NSW) office with any questions.
We expect a satisfactory resolution to this dispute and the first step is for NSW Government to treat paramedics with respect and re-engage. APA (NSW) are prepared to utilise any industrial strategies necessary if we do not have a satisfactory resolution within 14 days.
