Dear Members,
Thanks to you there will be a
parliamentary inquiry into bed block.
This has only happened because members never let up on reporting to APA (NSW) when bed block occurred. Your work led to near constant media coverage of this issue and finally, some political movement.
We will of course be making extensive submissions.
You will shortly be sent a survey on your experiences of bed block. It is important that you take the time to respond.
We’ve made them listen. Let’s make sure they get the full story of what’s happening on road.

The last six months, APA (NSW) members have shown immense strength and power in the action we have taken. We have achieved some significant inroads, including a commitment of 1800 new Paramedics. However, we all know that the fight must continue.

NSW Ambulance is asking Paramedics to complete 4WD and MPV training on their days off, and only offering to pay them under Clause 17B of the Award. Where a station has a 4WD, NSW Ambulance should be training people on work time as it is essential that they have the capability to use the 4WD.

This week NSW Health provided us with their formal Award offer for 2022/23. The new award would provide Paramedics and Control Centre staff with a 2.53% increase (+0.5% for superannuation).
